SINAA departs for the Arctic

Sinaa

Around 09:00 on September 29th, 2022 NEAS's 1994-built, geared general cargo ship SINAA departed the port of Becancour, Quebec for Canada's eastern Arctic region. For the week prior to her departure she had been loading a wide variety of general cargo, supplies, building material, fuel, personal goods, vehicles and containers in preparation for her third voyage north this season.

Beginning around October 5th, SINAA will call at the following ports - Kimmirut on south shore of Baffin Island, Cape Dorset on Dorset Island near the western shore of Baffin Island, Salluit on Quebec's northern shore, Akulivik and Puvirnituq both of which are on Quebec's northwestern coast in Hudson Bay then Kuujjuarapik on the southeastern Quebec shore of Hudson Bay which will be the southernmost port of call on this voyage.

Heading north thereafter SINAA will call at Umiujaq on the northwestern Quebec shore of Hudson Bay, Sanikluaq which is directly to the west on the northern tip of Flaherty Island, Inukjuak which is also on Quebec's northwestern coast northeast of Sanikluaq then finally Ivujivik which is on the northnmost tip of Quebec on the Hudson Strait.

At the end of these port calls SINAA will once again head south empty of all her north-bound cargo and partially filled with various other items, containers and general cargo that will be returned to Becancour. In Becancour, NEAS (Nunavut Eastern Arctic Shipping Inc.) has a terminal where the annual Arctic resupply voyages are planned and all the cargo is assembled for the ships that participate in the northern runs. She is expected to return to Becancour in the first week of November.
