Lengthened 120 feet in 1974 by Fraser Shipyards, Superior, WI and converted to a self-unloader in 1982 by Bay Shipyards, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
The Armco was fitted with an automated steering system, over the winter of 1998/99.
The Armco (and five other vessels) from by the Oglebay Norton Company, to the American Steamship Company in June 2006. The ship was renamed American Valor after the sale.
The American Valor has been laid up at Toledo, Ohio since November 13, 2008 due to an economic downturn. In late December 2017, American Steamship Company sold the vessel to the Algoma Central Corporation. |
