Began service as Sugar Islander, owned by the Bankers Trust Company, exclusively hauling bulk sugar. It was renamed Islander for Islander Shipholding Inc. and then Judy Litrico for the United Maritime Group in 1996. It was renamed again in 2006 to Tina Litrico.
After being sold to Lower Lakes Towing in 2011 the ship underwent a refit in Veracruz, Mexico and was renamed Tecumseh.
On December 15, 2019, she suffered an engine room fire near Zug Island while downbound on the Detroit River. While there were no injuries among the 16 crew members damage to the ship's engine room was extensive. She was subsequently laid up in Windsor, Ontario and inspections later revealed that she had been damaged beyond economical repair. As of June 2021 she was still laid up and it is expected that her career has come to an end. |
