Description
On 10 June 1983 she was abandoned by her crew in a position 42.02N / 179.02W in the middle of the Pacific Ocean approximately 650 nautical miles south of Adak Island, Alaska, after she began leaking uncontrollably. At the time she was on a voyage from Port Alfred, Quebec, Canada to Xingang, China with a cargo of grain. She was later reported to be gradually sinking in a position 42.28N / 178.20 W. On 10 July 1983 she was sighted drifting in a position 43.5 N / 167.05 W in a partially submerged condition. Though a search was subsequently attempted no trace of the ship was ever seen again.
