Description
Capsized on October 15, 1980 while unloading steel in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Refloated two weeks later, on November 13 and taken in tow by the tug GROENLAND enroute for Leer, Germany for repairs. On December 28, while underway in bad weather off Algeria, the tow line parted. Again on December 31 the tow line parted but the tug was able to re-aquire the ship. On January 2, 1981 the tow anchored off Malaga, Spain however the port authorities refused the tow's request for port entry. MAMMOTH SCAN subsequently sank later the same day
