Probably one of the last photos taken of the ill-fated Soviet-flag 1976-built roro vessel Mekhanik Tarasov as shown while upbound on the St. Lawrence River off Verchères on a foggy February 2, 1982. She sank off Newfoundland 14 days later on February 16 during bad weather. Only 5 of her 36 crew members survived. |
