Lead ship of her class of guided-missile destroyers, the retired Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) lies in the Philadelphia Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility on September 28, 2009. After decommissioning in August 1990, she was towed to the NISMF on Donation Hold status. She was considered for preservation by many associations but all these attempts fell through. After lying at this location for 30 years, she was finally towed in September 2020 to Brownsville TX for scrapping. |
